To successfully paint your nails, you should start by trimming your cuticles, the white flesh that grows over the base of your nails. You can purchase cuticle trimmers for fairly cheap, otherwise small nail clippers work similarily. Next you want to file your nails so they are the same length and shaped to your personal preference. I reccomend using foam board files, and not a file that is too rough. You can then begin painting, starting at the base of the nail and continuing with upwards strokes. You shouldn't need to apply more than two coats of your chosen color because otherwise the nail polish will be too thick and become clumped. One those coats are completly dry, it is best to apply one coat of a clear polish in order to protect your polish from chips or cracks. After that last coat has dried, you have successfully painted your nails!
Great job explaining the process, it would be very easy to understand for someone that is looking for proper instruction on how to paint their nails! We weren't given much time to go into detail on these process analysis posts but this is a great start that could definitely be expanded on. For example, if you wanted to add more you could suggest that a pedicure would be the same process. Also, I think some of the areas you brought up such as nail shape could be discussed more by giving the reader options or even by discussing things you shouldn't do throughout the process.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Paige, the shape of your nail should be mentioned if you were to plan on expanding your "How to." Pedicures are huge today and to start off your "How to" with some statistics about how many people get pedicures vs. the cost and how doing your own nails at home is more cost inefficient would really help sell your idea you have going. It would also draw in the read knowing that your tip could save them money and time.
